Coleen Rooney was “never obsessed” with having a girl

She's a proud mum of four little boys

Coleen Rooney has explained why she’s decided not to have a fifth child.

The wife of footballer Wayne Rooney revealed earlier this week that she’s not going to try for another baby, after giving birth to four sons.

Having four little boys has, inevitably, led fans to question if Coleen and Wayne would try again for a little girl.

But she told The Mirror: “I was never obsessed with having a girl in the first place. It would’ve been nice but I’ve got the boys.”

Coleen, 32, added: “I’m done having any more, definitely. I have always said I would like three children, so four was pushing it.”

The star is mum to sons Kai, eight, Klay, four, Kit, two, and Cass, who was born in February.

Coleen described the Rooney household as a “good madhouse” and said the older boys loved lavishing attention and affection on their baby brother.

She and Wayne had chosen not to find out their fourth child’s sex ahead of birth.

The star had previously insisted she didn’t mind whether the little one was a boy or girl, telling Closer magazine: “I’ve got two brothers and Wayne grew up with two brothers, so we’re from a family of boys.”

“A girl would be nice, but you can’t pick and choose what you want,” she added. “I’d be happy with another boy to join the madness of our house.”

Coleen recently announced a new role: she’s been named ambassador for Football Mum Of The Year.

The event, launched by McDonald’s, celebrates the effort of mums in getting their kids out playing football, and also pays tribute to grassroots heroes who make football in their communities possible for children.

Being married to a footballer makes Coleen rather qualified for the role!

And speaking of football, the star shared a beautiful picture to Twitter over the weekend as she brought her four sons to watch their dad Wayne’s team Everton playing.

The snap shows Wayne with his brood posing in the middle of the pitch, all four boys dressed in matching Everton kits.

She captioned it: “Last Home game of the season!!! The boys in blue.”
