If we still believed in Santa, Becky McDonald’s return to Coronation Street would be top of our Christmas wish list.
As it is, actress Katherine Kelly has just given us hope that this could well happen.
When asked about a possible comeback, the Mr Selfridge star told Woman’s Own: “I’ve always said that I’d never say never to it.”
And on the subject of why she hasn’t already stepped back onto the cobbles (how we missed Becky not being at sister Kylie’s funeral) she explained:
“Manchester never really worked for me longterm because I’m not from there, I’m based in London.
“Logistically it’s not as simple as it seems.”
The mum-of-one confirmed that she is often asked to return to Weatherfield by ITV bosses.
And from what she says it sounds as though we will see the Corrie legend back as soon as the time is right.
“I’ve been asked back a lot and I’ve always been working, but I would definitely never turn my back on that show,” she added. “It has a huge place in my heart.”
This is quite the change of heart from Katherine, who earlier this year seemed to suggest she was done and dusted with her Corrie days.
Speaking to Now magazine, she said: “I wouldn’t want to spoil the amazing time I had there.
“That would be my big worry.”
The 36-year-old even admitted that she doesn’t watch the soap – although she has a good excuse in the form of toddler daughter Orla.
The Happy Valley star revealed: “I haven’t watched it for ages!
“The reason is that 7:30pm is my daughter’s bedtime, I don’t even know half of the characters.”
We’ll forgive her that – as long as she comes back!
