Coronation Street set covered in a thick blanket of snow which threatens to affect filming

The inclement weather has forced crew to swap scenes

The set of Coronation Street has been covered by a white blanket of snow, as the UK continues to battle the coldest months of the year.

And while the snow is beautiful to look at, it threatens to cause major problems for the cast and crew who are currently filming scenes approximately six weeks in advance.

This could mean that scenes filmed while there’s snow on the ground won’t air until March, when spring should be arriving!

Coronation Street shared the stunning pictures on their official Twitter page, telling their 1.77million followers: “WEATHERfield Report: It’s snowing on the Cobbles!  #Snow #Corrie #WednesdayMotivation.”

In one photo, the rooftops of the houses are covered in fresh snow, while another even showed a new resident on the ITV soap – a snowman!

Fans were quick to express their amazement at the photos, with fans calling the scenes “stunning” and “beautiful”.

Others wanted to know whether it would affect filming, saying: “So does this mean snow will be appearing in an episode in May or June??”

Another added: “Always a bit awkward when the drama 6-8 weeks from now takes place with the snow there.”

A third said: “This going to be awkward come March! #Corrie.”

A spokesperson from the ITV soap told us that while a few scenes had to be swapped around, there has been “no major disruption” as yet.

But that could all change if the weather continues to get colder.

It wouldn’t be the first time that the snow has played havoc with filming on the soap.

Last year, the set had snow as late as March thanks to the ‘beast from the east’ affecting the weather in Manchester.

The Met Office has issued new severe weather warnings as a second winter storm is set to bring “very significant snowfall” to the UK over the coming days.

Snow up to 10cm deep is set to bury Britain after a -14C deep freeze.

Wrap up warm folks!
