Coronation Street star Antony Cotton has paid tribute to the soldier who was killed in the line of duty in Syria.

Using the image of the fallen serviceman, Antony posted on Twitter saying: “Gutted for Sgt Matt Tonroe. Rest easy, Soldier.”
Sgt Tonroe, from Manchester, was killed by a road side bomb whilst he was part of a US-led coalition in the war torn country.
He is the first casualty to be lost from the British Armed Forces.
Antony was the first ever celebrity ambassador of SSAFA.
He has spent much of his time supporting the cause, which is very close to his heart with close friends in the Armed Forces.
When his appointment was announced, the former Dancing On Ice star said: “I’ve seen first-hand the vital work that SSAFA does and I am truly honoured to be the charity’s first ambassador.”
“Some of my closest friends are serving in the Armed Forces and I am passionate about supporting our Service men and women, veterans and their families.”
