Coronation Street fans were given some much needed distraction last night, during a scene in which Shona Ramsey and David Platt appeared to split up.
As the couple fought over Shona’s son Clayton’s menacing presence in Weatherfield after his escape from prison, fan fave Gail blundered in at the worse possible time – or the best, depending on which way you look at it.

As David told Shona to pack her bags because he didn’t trust her anymore, Gail came in from outside complaining of the weather.
Unaware she’d walked into a furious row, she hugged herself and said: “It’s perishing out there.”
While the atmosphere may indeed have been frosty in the Platt household, fans were quick to point out that yesterday (Wednesday 27 February) was one of the hottest winter days on record!

While Gail was wrapped up in a black winter coat, and red scarf, it was in fact 20 degrees outside!
According to the BBC, Tuesday’s weather reached 20.8C in Porthmadog in north-west Wales and 21.2C in Kew Gardens in London.
As the penny dropped that Gail had walked in during a row, she asked: “Is this a bad moment?”
At which point, Corrie fans were already laughing at the blunder on social media.

Of course, Coronation Street is filmed six weeks in advance, so the writers couldn’t have predicted February would break records, with some of the hottest winter days on record.
