Corrie’s Faye Brookes to judge talent show

It's all for charity too

Coronation Street actress Faye Brookes, who plays Kate Connor on the soap, had a career in stage musicals before landing the part in Corrie.

And now she’s set to go back to her singing roots as she judges a new talent contest all in the name of charity.

Along with Capital Radio’s Adam Brown, she’ll judge a version of Lip Sync Battle in aid of Breast Cancer Care.

The show is a massive hit from America, where it’s hosted by LL Cool J and Chrissy Teigen. The UK version, shown on Channel 5, is presented by Professor Green and Mel B.

Faye put a poster calling for people to sign up for the event on her Instagram account.

As well as judging the winner, Faye will offer comments and tips on their performances – lip syncing’s a very serious business!

This new stint comes after she and boyfriend Gareth Gates opened a performing arts academy called – wait for it – Fates Academy. Genius!

They will be teaching young performers how to sing, act, and dance and the premises are really close to the Corrie studios, so Faye can continue her work there.

Explaining to Manchester Evening News why she wanted to set the school up, Faye said:

“There was nothing like this drama school around when I was that age and setting this up is a dream of mine.

“And working so close by makes it easier to bring people from Corrie in to do masterclasses.”

She’s going to be a busy bee!
