Corrie’s Helen Flanagan reveals how daughter saved her from suicide

Actress's life was spiralling due to bipolar disorder and ADHD

Helen Flanagan is proud mother to beautiful daughter Matilda but she admitted things haven’t always been easy for her.

The actress, who is making a return to Coronation Street after five years off, has revealed that she spiralled into a deep depression after quitting the ITV soap.

The 26-year-old has bravely revealed to The Sun that she even fantasised about crashing her car and killing herself during her lowest moment – until the arrival of her little girl gave her a new lease of life.

“I’ve suffered from depression. I was down and it was very intense – I don’t think I was very well.”

The main reason she decided to quit Corrie was her depression.

Helen secretly stopped taking her medication for her ADHD and bipolar disorder and found it really hard to cope.

It wasn’t until baby Matilda came along that put everything into perspective for the 26-year-old, who she raises with boyfriend Scott Sinclair.

Helen says that her daughter is her inspiration and she has changed ‘for the better’ since her arrival as she gives her more purpose in life.

The actress has weekly cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), and has fully come off of her medication with the help of her doctor.

Helen is looking forward to start filming Corrie scenes at the end of the year.

The sassy brunette will come back into her parents lives when she arrives back in Weatherfield from Miami with younger sister, Sophie.

Corrie boss Kate Oates said it was the ‘ideal time’ to bring Rosie Webster back.

“We are delighted that Helen is as keen to explore what Rosie has been up to away from the cobbles as we are,” Kate said.
