Coronation Street’s Lucy Fallon has revealed she was moved to tears after meeting a young woman, who went by the fictional name Lucy, who was abused for six years by a man she met on the internet.
The actress, who plays school girl Bethany Platt in the ITV soap, revealed speaking to Lucy made her want to change the age limit on social media.

Speaking about meeting the girl Lucy admitted: “When we met I was really crying when we were talking to her.
“When you’re young, especially like Lucy, she was really vulnerable and didn’t have a good family support behind her.
“She went to social media to try and speak to people because she was lonely and that’s how it started with her.”
The star went on to say she wants to higher the age limit on social media sites to 16.
The 21-year-old said: “There should be an older age limit. I think it should be 16.”
Lucy appeared on Loose Women Wednesday to talk about her role in the dark story line.
Corrie viewers have been watching Bethany being groomed by Nathan Curtis over the past few months.
But the young actress revealed that her boyfriend, Tom, and dad refuse to watch the harrowing scenes.
Panellist Stacey Solomon asked the star: “How have your family coped with watching you play out this storyline?”
Lucy revealed: “Tom finds it difficult to watch because obviously it’s me.

“And my dad finds it quite difficult as well because it’s his daughter acting out those things.”
Tom, who sat in the audience on the show, admitted: “I don’t choose to watch it.
“I just rely on the rest of the nation to tell me the amazing job she’s doing which I believe she is.”
The storyline is set to become even more darker as Bethany is forced to sleep with evil Nathan’s friend Neil against her will.
