Dale Winton is returning to our screens after two years away from the limelight. And he’s opened up about the reasons for his absence…
Once Dale was one of the most popular faces on TV screens, hosting hugely successful TV shows Supermarket Sweep, National Lottery: In It To Win It and Hole In The Wall.
He even had the honour of appearing in Comic Relief’s Uptown Downstairs Abbey, a parody of ITV1’s Downton Abbey.

But it’s been more than two years since Dale hosted the National Lottery gameshow on BBC1.
Now 62, Dale reveals he’s kept a low profile because of health reasons.
In an interview with whatsontv.co.uk, Dale says: “I had about four surgeries. I had a shoulder problem and a knee problem, so I took a break to get myself sorted.”
Unsurprisingly, likeable Dale has been lured back to TV to host his very own travelogue series – Dale Winton’s Florida Fly Drive. The four-part series sees him embark on a 1,5000-mile journey across the US state of Florida.

There’s also talk that Supermarket Sweep might be making a comeback in the future… And Dale is all for it.
After the company that originally made it took it to a TV festival in Cannes recently, Dale reveals it created a lot of interest.
He told whatsontv.co.uk: “I loved doing that show so if they wanted to do it again I would. Then again, I wouldn’t be surprised if they wanted 22-year-old to present it. I’d be devastated but, you know, that’s what happens.”
Dale Winton’s Florida Fly Drive starts tonight on Channel 5 at 9pm and continues on Thursdays.
