Dame June Whitfield has opened up about her decision to move into a care home.
The actress, 92, revealed her living situation while being surprised with a lifetime achievement award at the Radio Industry Club’s Christmas Lunch.
She said: “I lived on my own in a big house for ten years.”
“Now I have friends where I live and I like it. They’re fun,” she added.

June added: “I don’t have to worry about things like the roof or the plumber any more.”
Terry and June star June was sadly widowed 16 years ago and had lived alone since before making the decision to sell her house.
“I don’t have any particular routine,” she said, according to the Mirror.
“I just do very little. I have my massage once a week.
“I’m not as mobile as I’d like to be, but otherwise I’m fine.”

Most famous for her work on British sitcoms as well as the Carry On films, June has mostly retired from acting most recently appearing in EastEnders and Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie.
Speaking about her acting career, she said: “I’ve done it for 70 odd years. If I could I still would.”
