Dannii Minogue opens up about ‘six-year feud’ with ex Simon Cowell

The X Factor boss exposed their secret affair

It seems Dannii Minogue hasn’t spoken to her former X Factor boss Simon Cowell in six years.

The Australian singer was on the panel of the ITV talent show in 2007, and had a secret romance with music mogul Cowell while they were on the panel together.

Biographer Tom Bower revealed the truth about the fling in his 2012 book Sweet Revenge, but Dannii has now revealed she hasn’t spoken to her ex flame since she left The X Factor in 2010.

“I haven’t spoken to him and I have no idea what he’s said about the show,” she said during an interview with The Sun newspaper. “I have had zero contact with X Factor since I left. I haven’t seen it.”

Dannii is now back on screens as a judge on Gary Barlow’s new talent show Let It Shine, which searches for male cast members for new musical The Band, based on Take That’s biggest hits.

But while she is thoroughly enjoying the experience, her main priority in life will always be her six-year-old son Ethan, who she had with former partner Kris Smith.

Dannii moved back to Melbourne to be with her little boy as he started school, and admits her star status caused some problems for her tot in the playground.

“The start of school was a little tricky to navigate which is why I really wanted to be with him and help him through it.

“Some kids had come up to him in the playground and told him his mum’s famous,” she said. “Of course he had no idea what that meant, so he said, ‘No she’s not, she’s really nice!’.

“He came home in tears saying, ‘Mummy, they’re saying you’re famous’, so there’s a lot to navigate.

“It’s hard for him to work out what’s going on.”

Now Ethan is settled in his school, Dannii is thrilled to have been given the opportunity to star on Let It Shine, which she flies back and forth from Australia to shoot.

“I’d been looking for things to do but I needed something where I could come to England and work for short bursts, but not full time like I was when I did X Factor,” she said.

“I’ve been wanting to come back to the U.K. for ages. I was looking for something new, fresh and exciting. I wanted something full of positivity and light.”
