Danny-Boy Hatchard’s first role after EastEnders is a BIG surprise

Time to get a new agent?

When the super talented Danny-Boy Hatchard announced he was taking some time out from EastEnders, we were hoping he would go the way of other soap stars who made good.

You know, like Michelle Keegan and Suranne Jones, going off to work on proper dramas that win awards.

But no. In a move that screams ‘get yourself a new agent’, gorgeous Danny has signed up to appear on variety show Let’s Sing and Dance For Comic Relief.

Okay, we know it’s all in aid of charity but from the memories of the previous series, it is a show aimed squarely at easily pleased kids, distracted cats or those in a catatonic state in their armchairs.

In short, it’s a show in which stars – dare we say – with either something to plug or nothing to do, humiliate themselves on TV for a bit of airtime.

Anyway, Danny, whose character left Albert Square due to money and depression woes, appears on the show next week.

On Twitter he announced: “Had a proper giggle rehearsing for Let’s Sing And Dance for .@comicrelief today Tune in next week”.

The actor has revealed the act he will be hoping to dazzle viewers with… and it takes the biscuit!

Danny-Boy will be performing – eek! – Elton John’s I’m Still Standing, competing against James and Ola Jordan, Boys Allowed and The Chasers!

This week’s show included Russell Grant as Diana Ross and Matt Edmondson as Nicki Minaj.

Of course, dancing isn’t new to Danny-Boy. Last November he took on Patrick Swayze’s iconic Dirty Dancing routine for Children in Need and wowed the crowds.

His nifty moves on the floor were so impressive that fans begged Strictly producers to snap him up – which, actually, isn’t a bad idea.

In fact, that’s a much better idea than this.
