Danny Dyer eyes Doctor Who role as Peter Capaldi exits

This is definitely out of his usual range!

Danny Dyer could potentially become the next Doctor Who. Yes, you read that correctly.

The Cockney geezer won the hearts of the nation when he stepped in to take over the Queen Vic in EastEnders as Mick Carter.

Now it looks like he wants to swap his pub for the TARDIS…

The 39-year-old says he’s really “interested” in the Doctor Who role now that Peter Capaldi has announced he’s quitting the show.

Chatting to the Daily Star, he said: “I’d be interested in it. I could see myself in the scarf and all that.”

A multi-colour scarf?! Well, if that’s all it takes…

Before joining the soap, the popular actor was known for his hard-man roles in the nineties, and said that he wouldn’t change that much if he became the Time Lord.

Peter Capaldi managed to persuade writers to keep his own native Scottish accent in the role.

Danny said: “I think I could do it easy. I’d keep my accent too!”

The father-of-three has a humongous fan-base and many of them are desperate for him to be cast in the famous Sci-Fri role.

A petition has even been made!

The fans that made it wrote: “Peter Capaldi has recently announced that he will no longer continue in the role of the Time Lord.

“My understanding is that Danny Dyer has a contract with the BBC for EastEnders until October this year.

Mr Dyer should then move into the position of the new Doctor.”

We think he’s going to have some pretty tough competition though…

Olivia Colman could potentially be the first female Doctor.

Other favourites include Broadchurch actor Andrew Buchan, Game Of Thrones star Iwan Rheon and James Bond’s Q, Ben Whishaw.

Let’s face it, Doctor Danny Dyer has a ring to it.

Somebody make it happen!
