David Walliams reveals surprising news about the future of Little Britain

It seems David Walliams has been pow-wowing with Matt Lucas

Little Britain could be returning to TV screens after 11 years following a comedy comeback tease from David Williams.

The Britain’s Got Talent judge revealed earlier today he would be keen to reunite with Matt Lucas for another run of the comedy sketch series – even though there would have to be changes to the much-loved show.

“I would like to return to it,” he said during an appearance on The Chris Evans Breakfast Show.

“I would like to do a live show again, I think that would be fun.”

David, 47, who found mainstream fame playing roles such as Carol ‘computer says no’ Beer, Desiree DeVere and Linda Flint, added he’d also be up for creating a “couple of specials”.

However, amid rumours the show’s stars fell out some years ago, it seems David’s hopes for a revival may rest with his co-star.

It is believed the pair were not on speaking terms until they both attended showbiz pal Dale Winton’s funeral earlier this year.

And in a boost to hopeful fans, it seems as if the beginnings of plans have already been laid.

Asked what Matt reckons to the idea, David replied: “We were talking about [it], there’s an idea to possibly do it for charity as well.”

“The show wasn’t that big in America. I think we would do Australia, New Zealand, and Ireland.”

Despite the BBC show’s popularity, tweaks to some of Little Britain’s most outrageous characters could be inevitable if it is brought back.

David admitted earlier this year in a chat with the Radio Times that several characters could come to be viewed as relics from the past.

“You’d definitely do it differently because it’s a different time now,” he said.

He continued: “There’s all kinds of tolerances that change. People understand people’s predicaments more now. Maybe it’s ‘We see this differently, we’ve got more information,’ and it would be a different type of joke.

“I wouldn’t rule out anything because I basically think you have to be able to make jokes about everything, everyone. Otherwise there is no point having comedy.”
