Davina McCall has made a candid admission about her future following brain tumour surgery.
The beloved TV presenter, 57, revealed in November last year that she had to go in for brain surgery after doctors discovered a benign cyst that affects just three in a million people.
When she was in surgery, and in the days that followed, Davina’s partner Michael Douglas updated fans on her recovery, letting them know when she was out of intensive care.
And this week, Davina gave her first interview since the ordeal – and candidly opened up about what life looks like now.
Davina McCall in first interview since brain tumour surgery
Davina McCall’s podcast, Begin Again, dropped a new episode on Thursday (February 6).
In the latest instalment, Davina candidly spoke to friend and presenter Steven Bartlett about going through the experience.
“I felt like this thing had taken control of me,” Davina said. Recalling the moment she was told about the cyst, she added: “They said: ‘You’ve got a benign cyst in your brain…'”
Opening up, Davina also revealed she penned individual letters to all of her children – Holly, 23, Tilly, 21, and Chester, 18 – in case she didn’t survive after the surgery.
When asked how she felt following the operation, Davina said: “I don’t really remember where I was… you realise that your personality is your short-term memory.”
Davina reveals heartbreaking WhatsApp plan
What’s more, prior to her having brain surgery, Davina set up a Whatsapp group for people she “really cares about” in case she died on the operating table.
“I was thinking when I made the WhatsApp group, is who do I… if… if something bad happened, who do I not want to hear it from a paper?” Davina said.
Life will never be the same again, but in rather a good way.
She went on: “So, I was kind of thinking, in a way, I want them to hear good things. Who… who do I want to hear the news first before anybody else gets it? And that was my list of people.”

Davina then made a candid admission about her future.
“I’m grateful. Life will never be the same again, but in rather a good way,” Davina said.
Reflecting on going through the terrifying ordeal, Davina revealed it taught her an important lesson.
She explained: “There’s that saying, ‘A life lived in fear is a life half-lived.’ If you don’t really want to do something, don’t do it.
“But if there’s something that you want to do, yeah, do it,” she said. “Write your bucket list now,” she added.
