Davina McCall recently opened up about forgetting her beloved dad had died after undergoing brain tumour surgery.
The TV star, a judge on The Masked Singer, announced last November that a rare colloid cyst was found in her brain. To avoid the tumour growing, she had life-saving surgery.
During a recent episode of Making The Cut, the podcast she hosts alongside her boyfriend Michael Douglas, Davina discussed recovering from the surgery.

Michael had to ‘reinforce reality’ after Davina McCall had brain surgery
Following her operation, Davina said she suffered from short-term memory loss. At one point, Davina admitted she forgot that she underwent the life-saving surgery in the first place.
I spent the most amazing afternoon with my dad, who died two years ago, but it was the most real experience I have ever had.
Michael’s responsibility included making sure Davina didn’t touch her scar while she healed. However, Michael also had to “reinforce reality” when she started feeling confused.
“I think the saddest one for me, because I had spent the most amazing afternoon with my dad, who died two years ago, but it was the most real experience I have ever had,” Davina said as she started to feel emotional.
Michael explained: “Yes, I didn’t want to bother with that. I thought, right, well, I’m not bothering correcting that, that, you know, fantasy or something. We’ll just leave that hanging for a bit.”
The next day, Davina asked Michael whether her father had died. After being told he had, Davina explained that she wasn’t angry with Michael for not telling her.
Michael shared that it was hard to see her in pain when her “imagination” started to take a toll. On the other hand, he suggested there could have been a possibility that her father was there, stating: “Who’s to say he wasn’t?”

Davina wrote letters to her children before operation
In her first interview after her surgery, Davina confessed to podcaster friend Steven Bartlett on her show Begin Again that she wrote individual letters to her children after she feared she wouldn’t survive.
“What I wanted to do was to try and find a way that they would all find a way through if I didn’t make it. They make me very proud,” she said.
The former Big Brother host also disclosed she “wrote letters of wishes to all the children, and put those in my will”.
