She’s known for her healthy lifestyle and killer abs.
So perhaps it’s no surprise that Davina McCall’s surprise 50th birthday celebrations were an exercise in virtue rather than the sugar-filled, boozy evening many of us indulge in.
The former Big Brother host was whisked off to a secret destination by a group of pals, ahead of her big 5-0 on October 16.
An intrigued Davina posted on Twitter: “Being surprised for my 50th, being taken away by girlfriends no idea where?
“My birthday is actually on the 16th of October ! We are starting early.”
Well, it soon became clear she wasn’t just been taken down the local pub or out for a karaoke session – instead the star’s pals jetted her over to France for a health-heavy mini break.
A thrilled Davina told social media followers she had been surprised with a hiking holiday in the Verdon Gorge, a river canyon in south eastern France.
Oh, her pals know her so well!
But the surprises didn’t stop with a scenic mini break. Oh no.
Davina’s pals even remembered to bring a cake with them on their travels – and better yet, it was a sugar-free one for Davina, who famously ditched sugar back in 2015.
She captioned the snap: “Got a sugar-free cake in the middle of nowhere!”
Aww!
“She’s having fun, living life and enjoying herself,” she told Good Housekeeping.
“It’s so important for women to be out there showing other women that it doesn’t all end at a certain age.
“There are lots of things that I am beginning to enjoy and realise are okay. I genuinely care a lot less about what people think of me.”
As well as her hiking trip in France, the TV stalwart told The Mirror she’s planning a huge party for all her friends in London.
“I’m doing a massive club night on my birthday at the Café de Paris with 700 of my closest friends and we’re all going to go mental!” she said.
“I’ll be on the water of course. I know, it’s so boring, but I haven’t had a drink for years.”
She added: “Life’s too short for regrets. I’ve made a lot of mistakes, but I’ve learned from every one and I’m still here, and I’m in quite a good place. I’m happy. Hopefully when I’m 60 I can say to you I feel better than I do now.”
Happy birthday, Davina!
