Daytime legend set to join Strictly line up

Oooh, strictly between us, we're getting excited

There’s a couple of months to go now before the return of Strictly and more names are fast emerging.

As we’ve reported before, Matt Goss was the first star to apparently be confirmed as one of the celebrity dancers.

It’s also believed that WAGs Coleen Rooney and Alex Gerrard are being wooed by producers

Now the latest name to be thrown in to the sequinned hat is a daytime legend that will have viewers giddy with glee.

According to reports, the very popular Ruth Langsford has signed up to appear on the show.

A source told the MailOnline: “Ruth has always been a big fan of the show, and producers are thrilled that she has changed her mind and will be taking part this year.

“No one has signed any contracts for the show this year but she has had long talks with show bosses and, barring any injury, will be waltzing her way onto the show this autumn.

“Eamonn is really excited about cheering her on.”

A spokesperson for the BBC of course have played down the rumours and said: “This is speculation. The Strictly Come Dancing line up will be announced by the BBC in due course.’

Ruth’s rep has said the same thing.

There have always been rumours that producers were keen to get Ruth AND hubby Eamonn on the show.

However, since his hip surgery, his participation was thrown into doubt.

Meanwhile, viewers can expect to see a fresher series full of changes when it returns to screens in September.

Shirley Ballas will replace Len Goodman on the judging panel, while a new set of professional dancers will join the team, including Australian Dianne Buswell, Ukranian Nadiya Bychkova and Welsh born Amy Dowden.

The girls will replace outgoing Joanne Clifton, Oksana Platero and Natalie Lowe.
