Debbie McGee has opened up about the bitter feud between her late husband’s son.
The grieving widow has claimed that Paul Daniels’ eldest son threatened to hit her once.
Talking on Loose Women, the magician’s assistant rubbished claims that she was a money-grabbing witch and said: “”What actually happened is we closed the shop [where Paul Jr worked] because its losing thousands of pounds a year and to keep it open is costing a lot of money.

“When someone dies all their accounts are frozen, you don’t actually have access to anything. When Paul died I gave him two months of salary. I went to a HR expert and asked how much redundancy he was due.”
Despite only being advised to pay her step-son two months salary, she gave Paul Jr much more than that to honour the fact he had been working there nine years.
His father refused to pay him in cash.
She said: “His dad said he wouldn’t hand him cash because it would all go on beer.
“Paul and I, before we went to panto, we discussed the future of the shop, and his dad had set it all in motion. The shop situation we discussed [to shut it down] we just have to pay the basic expenses of rent.”
It seems that there has always been an issue with her and Paul Jr’s relationship.
“He’s been a problem child for years. He wasn’t loving to his own mother, he’s not in contact with anyone else in the family.

“The relationship was trying to keep him out of trouble, but the majority of the time it was yelling at Paul Jr for not running the shop properly and for drinking.”
Debbie still refuses to hate him, even though he has been threatening.
“It’s really been horrible and mostly despite the fact he’s been sending me threatening messages and all sorts. I wont allow myself to hate him, I couldn’t do that to his dad.”
The 57-year-old says she is still paying his mortgage on a property that she and Paul gave him money for, as well as giving him £500 a month for rent!
She said: “Paul and I lent Paul Jr some money to buy a property. He pays us a mortgage each month. His dad instigated contracts ready to exchange, but Paul Jr refused to sign the contracts. He doesn’t want to pay the mortgage and doesn’t want to move out.”
Loose Women gave Paul Jr a right of reply and he stated: “I’ve done various jobs in my life and haven’t had to ever ask dad for help.
“All I wanted was the redundancy owed which has now been sorted. I’m willing to bury the hatchet as long as she’s honest with me in the future.”
However, Debbie also added towards the end of the interview that during a visit to the shop, Paul Jr said he had to leave or else he’d ‘hit’ Debbie because he was so angry with her.
