There was disruption to the usual proceedings on This Morning today… instead of the opening credits kicking in at 10.30am, there was an apparent break in transmission.
There were crackles as the picture was lost and a warning appeared.
A voice-over man explained that there were some issues they were trying to address, before handing over to some Bradley Walsh elevator music.
The on-screen warning said: “We’re sorry for the disruption. Our presenters haven’t turned up. We are working hard to fix the issue.”
Of course, it was all a joke; a nod to Holly and Phil having been out at the National Television Awards last night.
Each year, the fun-loving pair are always – let’s say – delicate on the show the morning after the night’s celebrations before.
The smiling duo then made a comedy entrance, bursting through a paper screen, as shiny confetti showered over them.
And, if they were feeling pained, it wasn’t immediately showing.
Holly declared: “It was really good fun; there was lots of talking and singing. I might have to read the autocue with one eye closed.”
The lovable duo had plenty to celebrate at the NTA’s after party – This Morning won Best Daytime AGAIN.
A mere eight minutes into the show, it appeared Phil might have been suffering a teensy bit more than his co-star, as Phil Vickery offered up some hangover-easing fayre – and the silver fox warned he might “barf”!
While most of us feel instantly repaired by the smell of a bacon sarnie after a heavy session, Phil is apparently in that unfortunate camp of people who can’t stomach food in that state.
As his co-star tucked into a champion back butty, Phil put his hand to his mouth, gagged and gave his hurl-y warning.
Incredulous, he looked at Holly chomping on her sandwich and said: “You’ve already had pizza!”
Indeed, Hols revealed that she had already munched her way through a Full English as well as pizza since arriving at the ITV studios.
She shared a shot of the impressive-looking pepperoni pizza slice on her Instagram and captioned it: “Breakfast!”
You’ve got to admire this woman’s style!
