Denise Welch was overcome with emotion as she watched her son Matt Healy win not one, but two awards at the Brits last night.
Matt and his 1975 bandmates took home two gongs – one for best British group and the other for album of the year for A Brief Enquiry Into Online Relationships.
Expressing how proud is she of her son, Denise wrote on Twitter following the band’s win: “Speechless! Just crying thinking of them playing with their cheap drums and guitars in the garage!!! And obs its all down to me!! (sic)”

After fans congratulated Denise and the band, the Loose Women panellist thanked her followers for their “lovely messages” in a separate tweet.
She said: “Thank you for all your lovely messages about the boys. It’s a wonderful feeling to have so many people share our pride as a family.”
During the band’s acceptance speech, Matt told the audience: “Thank you to everyone. To the Arctic Monkeys for still being such an inspiring and relevant band in 2019. We know how hard that is.
“Thank you to my beautiful girlfriend for letting me write that stuff down.”
Denise has her son Matt, 29, with ex-husband Tim Healy.
Last year, Denise became emotional as she discussed Matt’s heroin addiction on Loose Women.
The 60-year-old actress was visiting her son while The 1975 were touring in America in 2017, and said she felt “touched” when he told her about his struggles and plans to go into rehab.
She said on the daytime show in October: “Last year he realised he was in trouble and I wasn’t seeing a great deal of him because he is on a world tour all the time.
“I went to Los Angeles to visit him and he told me last year he was going to take himself to rehab and he needed help with opiate addiction.”
Denise continued: “It was hard but I was thrilled and touched he told me, I was extremely proud he told me.”
Denise admitted she has “shame and guilt” about some parts of Matty’s childhood, which was very different to the one her other son, 18-year-old Louis, has had with her and her second husband Lincoln Townley.

She said: “Louis has pretty much grown up in a sober household but I do have shame and guilt with regards to some of the things Matt had to see.
“I wasn’t staggering round the house with a vodka bottle, but if I could redo parts of his childhood, I would do that.
“So to hear he’s had issues with drugs has been very difficult for me. As a mum, you always look to yourself to see if there is anything different you could have done.”
She added at the time: “I’m incredibly proud, he’s completely clean now, his third album is coming out, he’s a wonderful young man, wonderful son and wonderful brother.”
