The showbiz world is grieving today following news of the death of TV legend Des O’Connor at the age of 88.
Appearances by the beloved star had been few and far between in recent years but he was looking twinkly-eyed at a posh bash last year, flashing that familiar 1000 mega-watt smile.
The former Countdown host pulled zany faces for the cameras in early August 2019 at a swanky birthday party in London for dancer Bonnie Lythgoe.
Des was with Bradley Walsh, Bruno Tonioli and Sir Cliff Richard for the bash at The Ivy.
Linda Lusardi, Joe Pasquale, Elaine Paige and Susan George also attended the festivities described by actress Susan as a “night to remember”.

Des’ wife Jodie Brooke Wilson, who he married in 2007, was also reportedly in attendance.
Even though the famous faces had come together to mark Bonnie’s 70th, Des was the star of the show.
His pals crowded round him for a series of snaps uploaded to social media.

“Incredible and unforgettable evening celebrations with the adorable legends,” Strictly judge Bruno captioned an image on his Instagram account.
Des, whose death was announced this morning (Sunday, November 15), thanked his friends on social media for having him along.
“Had a wonderful night celebrating Bonnie’s birthday. So happy to share it with her family and special friends,” he said.
What a sad loss for the world, rest in peace Mr O’Connor and thank you for all the laughter.
