Love Island star Dr Alex George lost his brother this July

Dr Alex George has quit social media following the tragic loss of his younger brother.

The NHS doctor, 30, said he was taking a break from social media platforms.

Sharing in view of his some 1.5 million Instagram followers, Alex wrote: “I have decided to take a few weeks off social media.

“With everything that’s happened it’s important for my mental health that I take some time offline.

“I am focusing on my family and friends as well as looking after myself. I’m also going to spend some time thinking and working on a few projects that are close to my heart.

“Without doubt A&E will continue to keep me busy too. Thank you for your support and see you all in a few weeks.

“Stay safe and be kind to yourselves.”

Alex’s celebrity pals and fans rushed to wish him well.

Ruth Langsford commented: “Love to you and your family,” and Dr Zoe Williams praised: “Teapot wise move Alex. Sending lots of love.”

One fan wrote: “Take care Alex, it’s always to good to take a break from social media, stay safe.”

And another advised: “So glad to hear you decided to take some time off. You probably need that to heal and think through to refresh your mind. Take care and stay positive.”

Alex shared the deeply sad news in July that his brother, Llŷr, had passed away.

He said his brother died after a battle with mental health.

Sharing on Instagram, Alex wrote: “I can’t believe I am actually writing this post.

“I have lost my beautiful little brother to mental health. I love you so much Llŷr. The kindest and most caring soul.

“I was so proud of you starting medical school next month, you would have been the most incredible doctor.

“We are hurting so bad. No words can explain. As a family we are devastated. We love you and miss you so much. Please rest in peace x Our boy.”

Just back in March, Alex had shared on the same platform how his brother wanted to follow in his same footsteps.

He penned: “Brought my little brother to A&E today for work experience, he wants to follow in my footsteps and become a doctor.

“Not going to lie I am proud AF!!! Theres 10 years between us and he will be among the next generation of doctors on the frontline of our NHS.”
