He recently said he would love to be a TV doctor

He might not have been crowned the winner of Love Island, but Dr Alex George is apparently being lined up for a huge TV job on This Morning.

Earlier this week, the 27-year-old A&E medic appeared on the daytime show and admitted he would love “to do TV doctor work”.

And it seems his wish may have come true as The Sun claims Alex could join hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield as This Morning’s new doctor, alongside TV docs Hilary Jones and Zoe Williams.

A TV source told the publication: “Producers were impressed with Alex following his time on the show this week – and were intrigued to hear him say how keen he was to pursue more TV work.

“They believe it would be great to have a new face whose come from a show like Love Island and can appeal to a younger audience to give his insight on the medical world.”

They added: “He talks really passionately about his profession and is a big star thanks to his summer in the villa – but wants to use his newfound fame to educate the masses.”

However, a rep for This Morning has told ED!: “He hasn’t been approached by This Morning at present.”

During his interview on the show, Alex said he would love to be “involved in medical education to the public”.

“There were points where I was talking in the villa like about C-sections and everyone was really interested and I think people of my age want to know more about the medical world.”

He added: “I would love to do TV doctor work because I am passionate about my job and would love to make that accessible to all audiences.”

Meanwhile, Alex took to Instagram on Thursday to share a picture of himself in his scrubs.

He gave a shout out to all the “new doctors embarking on medical careers” as he reflected on his “first steps in A&E”.

Alex said: “A big shout out to all the new doctors embarking on your medical careers and to those moving on with their rotations; feels like just yesterday I was taking my first steps in A&E.

“I would also like to take a minute to appreciate the incredible support I have received from everyone in the medical field- doctors, nurses and allied professionals alike. I could not have done this without you.”
