Dr Ranj Singh has begged Piers Morgan to STOP making “harmful” jokes about vulnerable people.
The Strictly star and This Morning’s resident medic, 39, made his appeal on Twitter, urging Good Morning Britain host Piers to end his “gender-related jokes on TV for entertainment”.

On Wednesday (3 April), the ridiculously likeable doctor wrote a heartfelt message to his 90,900 Twitter followers calling for Piers to change his ways.
In the post, he wrote: “I am getting a little tired of @piersmorgan making gender-related jokes on TV for entertainment.
“Piers, this stuff may seem funny, but it actively harms vulnerable people. As a medical professional, I implore you: PLEASE don’t do it.”

Piers, this stuff may seem funny, but it actively harms vulnerable people.
As a medical professional, I implore you: PLEASE don’t do it.

Dr Ranj’s fans were quick to debate the post, with some insisting people are too easily offended these days, and others saying the doctor was playing into Piers’ hands.
However one fan simply agreed with Ranj and wrote: “Love this man!!!! Spot on mate.”
Another thanked Ranj, saying: “Thanks Ranj. Imagine being a trans person. Each occasion means days of his idiot followers repeating his comments to you. ‘Hey Stace, are you going to identify as a helicopter today? Ha Ha Ha.’ It wears thin. Shame on ITV and also @susannareid100 for allowing him to continue.”
When you meet a suicidal trans young person, you realise that even little things, when amplified on TV, can have a major impact on how they feel.
It’s not fair and it’s not OK because we can do better.
Of course gender & identity should be discussed, but not like this.

And Dr Ranj wasn’t finished there, he went on to tweet: “When you meet a suicidal trans young person, you realise that even little things, when amplified on TV, can have a major impact on how they feel.
“It’s not fair and it’s not okay, because we can do better. Of course gender and identity should be discussed, but not like this. Enough is enough. #BeKind.”
Naturally, outspoken Piers was quick to defend himself and take a swipe at his critic, and even descended to name calling.
He tweeted: “Hi Ranj, I am getting a little tired of humourless ‘woke’ berks like you telling me what gender-related jokes I can and can’t make on TV for entertainment…
“I implore you: PLEASE don’t do it.”

Nothing not do with being 'woke' or anything of the sort, Piers. I'm asking you as a medical professional & colleague to please be more considerate in what you consider a joke. I see the real results that such banter actually has. https://t.co/gqN7r5wgKh

Refusing to be riled, however, Dr Ranj replied courteously: “Nothing to do with being ‘woke’ or anything of the sort, Piers.
“I’m asking you as a medical professional and colleague to please be more considerate in what you consider a joke. I see the real results that such banter actually has.”
Fans once again sided with the doctor, with one writing: “This is what most kids are seeing before they head off to school in the mornings. If an adult can act like this on TV, it allows the kids to think that this sort of behaviour is acceptable.”
Another added: “I’m with you Dr Ranj! People like Piers who think joking at the expense of others is funny or clever should see it from the side of those people who find it offensive, upsetting and cruel!”
A third wrote: “Thank you @DrRanj for sticking up for people. It’s not easy. You are a decent, sensitive and kind human being (and Doctor), doing the right thing. So many support you and are with you on this.”
“It’s sad that someone like @piersmorgan who is in the public eye feels the need to ridicule others,” lamented another. “Working with teens has opened my eyes to so many issues they face and unhelpful, offhand comments can be hurtful. It’s a fine line between banter and bullying.”
