Sitting in a recording studio, he said: “Some of you are worried about my welfare now that Ruth is not about and she has her new family, her Strictly family.
“I have a new family too.”
Explaining where he was, the star continued: “I’m encased in this voiceover booth and I have travelled to a new land, the land of Biggleton.
“There is a life that goes on there and my job is to voice that whole life and bring it to a screen near you, or more accurately, CBeebies later in this autumn.”
Eamonn added: “So while Ruth is dancing away, I am making friends with Alim the baker, Lois the firefighter and Bobby the vet, people who will become very familiar to you, hopefully, in the autumn.
“Remember, you heard it here first! Biggleton is my family now, I hope it will be yours too.”
Fans were quick to congratulate Eamonn on his new job and assure him they’d be tuning in when the show airs.
One wrote: “Well so that’s where you’ve been! I love you & your humour cant wait for Biggleton I will be waiting.”
Another said: “This is immense Mr Holmes!! I’m excited…let alone my daughters.”
A third added: “My granddaughter too big to watch Cbeebies now but I will watch it just to hear that voice of yours.”
And a fourth remarked: “I’m sure the children will love it. You’ve got the perfect voice for doing VO that’s for sure. Hopefully I’ll be able to catch a clip or two.”
