Eamonn Holmes has a message for Ruth Langsford’s new Strictly Come Dancing partner

It's a match made in heaven!

Eamonn Holmes has jokingly warned Strictly Come Dancing’s Anton Du Beke to take care of wife Ruth Langsford.

The television presenter told Anton to “handle [Ruth] with care” after they were paired up in Saturday night’s episode of Strictly.

Of course, it was all said in jest, as Eamonn took to social media to reveal his delight at the pairing.

After watching the coupling unfold, he tweeted: “This was a lovely moment. Their reaction says it all. Ruth needs and trusts Anton so much.

“Handle with care mate.”

Eamonn, 57, then added: “Good luck you two! Ruth is very happy. She tells me Anton is funny, kind and a great teacher.”

Ruth, also 57, couldn’t hide her excitement at being paired with Anton – but insisted on social media she was taking it one day at a time and not getting ahead of herself with thoughts of reaching the final.

“Feel very lucky to have Anton guiding me,” she told one Twitter follower.

“Thrilled to have Strictly legend Anton as my partner,” she told a second.

She then added to another: “He is the best fun ever! I’m worried he might get me in to trouble for giggling!”

And another message she sent said: “Anton and I have a very similar sense of humour do I think we’ll have a lot of fun!”

After fans began telling Ruth they were rooting for her to pick up the Glitterball Trophy, she thanked them for their support but insisted she wasn’t thinking about that just yet.”

She told one fan: “Flattered but let’s not jump ahead of ourselves here! Start training with Anton tomorrow…..THEN we’ll find out if I can dance!”

It will no doubt be a relief for fans to see Ruth so happy on the Strictly dancefloor after she confessed this week to suffering last minute nerves and insecurities about the show.

She told The Sun: “I had a real jitter. I got up very early yesterday and did that thing of, ‘err, what day is it? Where am I supposed to be?’

“Then every negative thought I could possibly think about doing Strictly suddenly was there.

“I was thinking I haven’t trained enough, I’m too fat, I’m too old, I’m too busy, I can’t do it.”

We’re sure both Anton and Eamonn would disagree with that…
