Eamonn Holmes has admitted he had a joke at Ruth Langsford’s expense when he recently met the Duchess of Cornwall.
The cheeky presenter told OK! Online he talked about his wife’s appearance on last year’s Strictly Come Dancing when he met the royals recently.
He recalled: “We talked about Strictly. She loves it. She said to me, ‘you must have been very surprised by your wife…’, and I said, ‘I was. I was surprised to learn she couldn’t dance’.”
Oh Eamonn!
It’s not the first time he’s teased his wife for the low scores she received on the show, as he regularly joked about it when they co-hosted This Morning.
On one occasion when she interrupted him, he told her: “That’s why you couldn’t dance on Strictly, darling. I’m just saying, sometimes the dancer has to take the lead.”
But despite her husband’s jibes and the judges’ criticism, Ruth, 57, had the last laugh as she lasted eight weeks on Strictly, surpassing bookies’ favourites including Aston Merrygold.

She became a firm fan favourite thanks to her partnership with Anton Du Beke, and viewers were particularly amused with how she styled out a fall at the end of their paso doble to straddle the professional dancer.
As to whether he would ever follow in his wife’s dancing footsteps, Eamonn made his position on this clear to OK! Online.
“Never, never never,” the 58-year-old said, even though it’s rumoured he’s been offered large sums to appear.

And despite all his teasing of his wife, he said he appreciates how hard learning all the routines must be, and he’s really proud of her for doing it.
He even threw a surprise party for her after her exit – despite it falling on his own birthday weekend – as he wanted to cheer her up and celebrate her success.
That’s more like it, Eamonn!
