A spokesperson for the duo revealed: “Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes have confirmed their marriage is over and they are in the process of divorcing.”
Neither Ruth nor Eamonn have commented on the news on their social media accounts.
It is said to be down to having drifted apart in recent months. However they want to remain friends. A source said: “Their work commitments took them in different directions.”
ED! has contacted representatives for Eamonn and Ruth for comment on this story.
The former This Morning presenters were plagued by split rumours in recent months. It comes after they hadn’t been pictured together for a while. Eamonn also shared pictures from his granddaughter’s christening and Ruth didn’t appear to be seen.
Fans commented on her absence and questioned whether their relationship was okay.
“You never see them together and it’s worrying, I loved the relationship they had,” one fan speculated.
Eamonn then posted a picture of him reuniting with pal Linda Lusardi and fans were quick to hit out.
“Where was poor Ruth?” questioned one.
“Where is your beautiful wife Ruth?! Why or what are you trying prove!” said another.
Ruth on caring for Eamonn
Despite their plans to divorce, Ruth is still seemingly a great support to Eamonn as he continues his battle with chronic pain.
Earlier this week Ruth said that the couple are facing up to the fact that he may “never be 100% right” after he was pictured in a wheelchair.
Speaking to Woman’s Weekly, Ruth shared: “I don’t know how much Eamonn’s mobility will improve. We live in hope. He does the physio, but there might have to be some acceptance that this might never be 100% right.
“With any care situation – and there are millions of carers in this country – it isn’t always easy. It’s testing but we manage as a family.”
Ruth added: “I look at Eamonn, who’s had his health and back problems, and it makes you realise how important your health is.”
Eamonn’s previously had operations on his back to help with bulging discs. He then faced a setback when he fell and broke his shoulder last year.
A source close to Eamonn told the Mirror: “Eamonn has been using walking aids for around 18 months now so not much has changed unfortunately. He is doing everything he can but the lack of progress from the physio has obviously been a bit frustrating. But he continues to have physio sessions pretty much every day and continues to work hard in his rehabilitation.
“He is in pain a lot of the time and so that is not fun at all. But he keeps going and he is loving his work still and he is a journalist at heart.”
Ruth and Eamonn
The couple first met in 1997 and dated for more than 10 years before getting engaged. They share son Jack, who was born in 2002.
Ruth and Eamonn married in 2010 at Elvetham Hall in Hampshire.
The couple were the Friday hosts and holiday stand-ins for This Morning under Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield’s tenure. However after a bitter feud with the latter, they were replaced by Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary in 2020.
Ruth continued to front ITV show Loose Women, while Eamonn moved to GB News.
