Eamonn Holmes told This Morning viewers he was delighted to welcome his son’s new wife, Jenny, into the family last week.
The presenter and his wife Ruth Langsford said they were especially pleased with their new daughter-in-law because she’s a doctor!
Explaining why they were away from the show last week instead of covering for Holly Willoughy and Phillip Schofield who are on their summer break, Eamonn said: “If you were wondering where we were last week, a lot of people thought I was off with shingles.
“I did get shingles and unfortunately it coincided with the reason why we were off which was because my eldest son Declan got married last Wednesday.”
Eamonn, 58, had previously shared an image of the bride and groom from the big day on Instagram, which was displayed This Morning.
Referring to the image, Ruth continued: “That’s the new Mr and Mrs Holmes – Declan and Jenny. She’s Dr Holmes, we have a doctor in the family now, we’re very proud.”
She added to Eamonn: “With your shingles we are going to need her around now aren’t we?!”

Eamonn revealed on Instagram last week that he was suffering from a bout of the condition that had left itchy sores on the side of his face.
He said if it happens again, he can turn to Jenny for advice.
“It’s brilliant, Michael Jackson had a private doctor and now so do I,” he said. “It’s great, you don’t have to wait or worry about an appointment. I can just phone up and say ‘I have this terribly tingling, what can it be?'”
He added that the wedding at Castle Leslie in County Monaghan was a “lovely” day.
Declan is his eldest son from his first marriage to Gabrielle, with whom he also has a son Niall and daughter Rebecca.
He has a teenage son Jack with his second wife Ruth, who he regularly presents This Morning with.
There was a mixed reaction to Eamonn and Ruth’s replacements last week with viewers not keen on the pairing of Michael Ball and Sara Cox, but delighted by Gok Wan teaming up with Rylan Clark-Neal and impressed by Mollie King’s debut with Ben Shephard.
Eamonn seemed to be relishing being back on the show today as he flirted up a storm with some of the female guests.
When Love Island’s Laura Anderson appeared, he couldn’t resist going in for a hug and a kiss on the cheek as she answered a question from Ruth about whether Frankie and Samira are still together.
“Who cares? It’s all about us, Laura!” Eamonn said standing up to embrace her.
Laura had previously admitted on the reality show that Eamonn was her celebrity crush!
Not to be outdone. Ruth invited Laura’s partner Paul to sit with her on the sofa.
“Paul and I are fine actually, see you after the weather!” she said as she sat with her arm around the model.
Laura wasn’t the only one to flirt with Eamonn on Monday’s show. Danielle Lloyd also made a cheeky remark towards him as she joined in a debate on whether your husband kissing another woman can ever be forgiven.

When Eamonn asked Danielle, who is engaged to Michael O’Neill, “do you ever think of kissing anyone else?” she cheekily replied: “Only you Eamonn!”
As they all laughed, Ruth joked: “You’ll be fighting Laura for him!”
She then added where she stood on the debate in case Eamonn was getting any ideas – saying she would not forgive a passionate kiss.
