Discussing the Christmas travel disruptions, Eamonn revealed how his situation impacts his day-to-day activities.

“I’m now sort of wheelchair laden… you rely on a lot of people to get you on and off [a train]. It’s very, very difficult doing that,” he said.

The presenter quickly added: “I just threw that in there, not that it’s not a concern to anybody, but there we go.”

“Well, it’s a consideration for lots of people in the same position as you, Eamonn,” co-host Isabel Webster reassured him.

Eamonn’s struggle with mobility has been a long one.

In September, he revealed in a video that he could no longer walk unaided or look after himself following complications from back surgery in 2022 for a slipped disc.

Earlier this year, he acknowledged the difficult reality that he may never walk unaided again.

Eamonn’s mobility issues have been accompanied by other health challenges. In 2016, he underwent a double-hip replacement.

Despite his efforts to improve his quality of life, his health journey has been full of setbacks.

Eamonn and Ruth latest

In June, the GB News host and his wife Ruth Langsford confirmed the end of their 14-year marriage.

The couple has since been heading towards divorce, with Eamonn reportedly moving on with dating counsellor Katie Alexander, who is 22 years younger.

Despite the separation, Eamonn recently extended his support to Ruth after she shared that her 93-year-old mother, Joan, had been hospitalised with a fractured pelvis.

Ruth posted the news on Instagram. “Thank you all so much for your lovely messages and well wishes for my darling mum,” she wrote.

“She’ll be in hospital for a bit longer yet, but she’s in pretty good spirits considering and I hope she’ll be home for Christmas.”

Eamonn liked the post. This marks one of the first public interactions between the estranged pair since their split.

Eamonn and Ruth are reportedly keen to finalise their divorce quickly in the New Year. Ruth is expected to keep their reported £3.5million Surrey mansion.

“The aim is for Eamonn and Ruth to resolve their divorce as quickly as possible in the New Year,” a source told The Sun. “Ruth is keen to stay in their marital home as it is where she is settled. Eamonn, on the other hand, wants to move on.”
