Soap fans, rejoice! EastEnders are giving viewers the best New Year present ever, with a BONUS episode.
As we enter 2019, the BBC soap will air on New Year’s Eve at 8pm as normal, but it will be followed by a special, hour-long episode on New Year’s Day, and TWO episodes on Thursday!
The episodes will air at 7.30pm, with the second following at 8.30pm.
We also get the usual Friday episode on at 8.00pm.
It’s been a dramatic couple of weeks for Kat and Alfie.
But the biggest storyline for viewers tuning in around New Year, will centre around Mel Owen and her wedding to Ray Kelly. When her revenge plan goes wrong, there is a showdown in the woods.

On Thursday, Tamzin Outhwaite, who plays Mel, posted a picture of her character in a wedding dress on Instagram.
Next to it, she warned fans: “Get ready for a bumpy ride @bbceastenders.”
Her followers rushed to share their excitement. One commented: “Can’t wait to see how this all pans out! So pleased your character was brought back! 😊.”
Another said: “Aww Tamzin, I can’t wait to see what happens. I love you playing Mel, brilliant!! 😘 X.”
A third added: “Look at you 😍🔥. You’re gonna be AMAZING so proud of you 💓 love you xxx.”
In a new interview Tamzin – who was originally on the BBC soap from 1998 to 2002 – told What’s On TV: “So the wedding is a big wedding in a church, I can say that. Mel’s ex husband Ian Beale is there and Jack is there, who proposed to her, so there’s a lot of history in that one place.
“But I can’t go into details about the woods other than to say it felt dangerous and that when we were doing it I was scared!”
She also hinted that there could be a murder, saying: “Who knows? What I can say is it’s not quick and it’s also not over! But it’s like a horror, it’s like the darker side of EastEnders. I mean, I’m not sure I’d want my children to watch it if you know what I mean.”
