Some EastEnders viewers might have forgotten that Mel Owen and Ian Beale were once married.
While we’re sure Mel has attempted to erase all reminders of the doomed nuptials from her relationship CV, Ian is still clinging to the memory.

Ian is currently single, with many ill-fated love affairs in his history, but Mel is dating Jack Branning – and he’s quite a catch, right?
So, we reckon, it doesn’t look too good for Walford veteran Ian…
But Ian is determined to get ex-wife Mel up the aisle for a second time, and next week reveals his belief that the pair will marry again within the next 12 months.

In fact, the local businessman is even planning to use Mel’s teenage son Hunter to help him achieve his goal…
Hmmm, still not looking good Ian, don’t you know Hunter isn’t exactly reliable?!
On Monday (30 July), Ian offers Hunter a job at his restaurant, hoping this will impress Mel into swooning at his feet.
But, as soon as Hunter starts the job, he’s irked by a grilling from Ian over his mum’s relationship with Jack.
And Hunter is even more irritated when he overhears Ian telling Masood that he plans to marry Mel within 12 months.
The young lad obviously uses this information to his advantage, and begins to take liberties on the job…
Later in the week, it seems both Mel and Hunter are using Ian’s crush to their own advantage!
Long-serving soap fans will remember that Ian and Mel’s first marriage ended abominably when he basically emotionally blackmailed her into marrying him.
Ian told Mel a string of lies about his daughter Lucy having leukaemia, and she dumped him as soon as she realised the truth.
Would she ever go back there? Do pigs fly?
