Sonia Fowler returns to EastEnders, saves Dot and shakes up Walford

She's back in town, but is romance on her mind?

Sonia Fowler returned to EastEnders last night, just in the nick of time to save Dot Branning who’d fallen over her cat, Dave.

She’s set to ruffle a few feathers with her bolshy approach to moving back to Walford, not least ex-husband Martin’s as she demands daughter Bex return to live with her.

But there might be someone who’s glad to see Son – ex-girlfriend Tina Carter.

While actress Natalie Cassidy, who plays the formidable nurse Fowler, has been on maternity leave, Sonia has been away working in Kettering.

But she came storming back into the Square when she found out Bex was being bullied. Like a whirlwind she sorted everything out, also finding five minutes to attend Sylvie Carter’s funeral.

Sonia had spent some time caring for Tina’s mum when she and Tina were an item, so she felt connected to the lady who died in quite traumatic circumstances after being electrocuted.

The strain of looking after Sylvie was one of the problems in the girls’ relationship, as well as the fact fun-loving Tina ended up cheating on Sonia.

Son also wanted to be more grown up and possibly have another baby, something Tina wasn’t keen on at all. Eventually their differences drove them apart.

But Sonia turning up at Sylvie’s funeral really meant the world to Teen, who is pleased to see her ex back in Walford this time too.

Sonia’s having a pretty stressful day as she continues to try and convince Bex to move in with her as well as looking after Dot and trying to sort out living arrangements for her and Robbie.

When Martin reaches out with the opportunity for Sonia to go to the school to speak to Bex’s teacher about her daughter’s progress, therefore making Son feel more involved in her girl’s life, things start to look up for the mum.

And then she finds herself reconnecting with Tina. Could it lead to more? Has the time apart made them both realise that they really want to be together?

“Who knows where she’s going next?” Natalie told Inside Soap magazine recently. “People say she’s a lesbian, but obviously she is bisexual and that’s pretty clear now.

“Personally I’d like to see Sonia and Kush get together. I think they’d make a good couple.”

She added: “I think that for now Sonia’s main relationship will be with her brother [Robbie] and once that is bedded in, other relationships will soon blossom.”
