EastEnders star ‘spat at’ by pregnant daughter during row

Gerry Cowper claims her teenage daughter "spat in her hair" during a heated argument

Former EastEnders star Gerry Cowper has revealed her pregnant daughter spat in her hair and threw beer over her during a intense row.

Gerry, who played Rosie Miller in the soap, branded her daughter “disgusting” for continuing to smoke and drink during her pregnancy.

During the heated argument Allec Folley, 18, smashed a door glass pane and split a wooden fireplace after heavily drinking with her boyfriend in the family’s £1 million home.

After lashing out at her mum, Allec was convicted at Wimbledon Magistrates Court of assault, and causing criminal damage in the home.

Magistrate Mr Rod told the 18-year-old: “Drink played a significant part in what happened.

“In an agitated state you pushed the fire surround and beer was thrown towards your mother and spit directed at your mother.”

Foley, who is pregnant with a baby boy, told the court: “I’d been drinking throughout the night and had an argument with my boyfriend about the pregnancy.

“My mum called me ‘disgusting’ and said I was smoking and drinking while pregnant and I said, ‘That’s disgusting’ and spat.”

After the row with her daughter, Gerry fled the house and called 999 from her car.

She revealed fearing for her daughter’s safety after discovering she had self-harmed.

After the police had arrived Allec said the row had escalated when her mother accused her of “smoking weed” and labelled her “disgusting”.

When asked about the spitting incident, Allec claimed: “There was never any point that I intended that, she was halfway down the stairs.

“The beer was a gesture, there was no intention to get it out of the bottle.

“In anger I threw my arm and the beer did go over the wall and floor.”

Despite reporting her daughter to the police, Gerry made a withdrawal statement to attempt to get her daughter off in court.

The 58-year-old revealed: “She was very concerned and very distressed and on this morning she attempted self-harm and took some tablets. I saw the fresh blood and said, ‘I need to call you an ambulance’.

“At the bottom of the stairs something wet hit my back. I thought I had sticky beer in my hair.

“They said, ‘We’re charging your daughter,’ and I said, ‘You’re joking’?

“I never supported this prosecution. I never wanted a prosecution to come from what I said, I was misled.”

But the family are no strangers to getting into difficulties with the law.

Gerry had a long-term relationship with bank-robbing accomplice Mark Foley who received 14 years behind bars.

Foley, who is Allec’s father, received a life sentence in 2006 for armed robbery.

Gerry has since split with Foley.
