Jane Beale actress Laurie Brett got hitched earlier this month in a low-key ceremony with some of her EastEnders co-stars in attendance.
But it turns out her and new husband Dennis Longmam’s big day had been rescheduled from months earlier following a dramatic development that could have been scripted for her Albert Square character.
Laurie, 49, was originally due to marry her fiancé last October before he was struck down by a worrying illness.
Speaking to OK! Magazine, Laurie revealed doctors credited her for saving Dennis’ life.

“In the lead up to the wedding Dennis was very ill, I knew something wasn’t right so I called an ambulance,” she explained.
“When we got to the hospital we found out he had pneumonia and sepsis.
“The consultant said to him: ‘Your wife-to-be has saved your life. If you had waited another night to come in things would have been very different.'”
Having made a full recovery, the couple were able to get their marriage plans back on track and enjoyed a ‘secret’ do with family and friends.

Tamzin Outhwaite was among the famous faces in attendance, with the Mel Owen star revealing details about the do to her 200,000 Instagram followers.
Uploading a snap of a host of “gorgeous wedding flowers” to her Instagram Stories, Tamzin later let slip who they were for when she posted an image of the 49-year-old Jane Beale favourite giving her man a kiss.
“Congratulations Laurie and Dan,” Tamzin captioned the pic.
Letitia Dean – who plays Walford’s Sharon Mitchell – is also thought to have been a guest at the wedding reception.
It is believed Laurie and Dennis have been a couple for a year and a half after being friends for over a decade.
She has previously said her feelings for him had changed after they bumped into one another in 2017.
