Elton John health
This news comes after the Rocket Man singer announced his retirement from touring last year.
Elton concluded his career with a series of final shows that celebrated his decades-long contribution to music.
I’ve been dealing with a severe eye infection that has unfortunately left me with only limited vision in one eye.
Despite his retirement, he has remained engaged with his audience – notably appearing at his star-studded Oscar party in March.
However, it was during the summer months that Elton faced this health battle.
“Over the summer, I’ve been dealing with a severe eye infection that has unfortunately left me with only limited vision in one eye,” Elton revealed on Instagram on Tuesday (September 3).
He opened up about his recovery process: “I am healing, but it’s an extremely slow process and it will take some time before sight returns to the impacted eye.”
The musical legend also expressed gratitude to his healthcare team and family for their unwavering support during this challenging period.
“I have been quietly spending the summer recuperating at home, and am feeling positive about the progress I have made in my healing and recovery thus far,” he concluded.
Elton John and husband
Despite Elton’s health setbacks, he and his husband, David Furnish, are reportedly exploring creative ventures to keep his legacy alive.
According to The Sun, the pair are in discussions to create a musical featuring Elton’s vast catalogue of hits. This will include songs such as Your Song, Candle In The Wind, and Tiny Dancer.
In addition to these exciting projects, Elton is also involved in many theatrical productions.
His Devil Wears Prada show – starring Vanessa Williams as Miranda Priestly – is set to debut in Plymouth this July.
This isn’t the first health issue the star has battled this year. In January, the iconic artist underwent a knee replacement.
He is scheduled for a second surgery later this year, with David optimistically suggesting that fans might see Elton “breakdancing down the carpet next year”.
