Emmerdale fave splits with wife after just 12 months of marriage

The couple admitted they have drifted apart

Emmerdale star Michelle Hardwick has split from her wife Rosie Nicholl.

The actress, who is known for her role as vet Vanessa Woodfield in the Dales, has confirmed that they’ve ended their marriage.

They only lasted 12 months after exchanging vows.

Opening up to the Daily Star, Michelle, 40, said: “Unfortunately, Rosie and I split last year but are still good friends. It was one of those things where we did drift apart.

“We had a big fairy tale wedding and I still love that day. It was brilliant.”

The couple tied the knot with music teacher Rosie in the Yorkshire grounds of Danby Castle back in April 2015.

Their whirlwind romance was everything they could have hoped for, and luckily things have ended amicably.

Michelle says they are still friends: “I grew out of love and she became more of my best friend. Like, we were living as friends, not a married couple.

“We’re still living together, just in separate rooms while the divorce goes through, but it’s underway.”

They are also set to take joint responsibility for their cute dogs, Jess and Harley.

They kept the split secret so they could both avoid awkward questions while they came to terms with it.

Both of them met when Michelle was appearing in panto; she was actually in a six-year relationship at the time but knew Rosie was The One.

Gushing about her wife, she previously told The Mirror: “I’d better touch wood, but life is lovely at the moment, and I love saying, ‘This is my wife’.

“We were both planning to change our names to Hardwick-Nicholl, but then Rosie decided to take my name.

“I thought she was being romantic, but she’s a freelance music teacher, so she confessed she didn’t want to write out a long surname eight times a day!”
