Emmerdale’s Laurel Thomas is facing the worst time of her life after putting husband Ashley into full-time care.
As she struggles to cope when things get even harder, she turns to his carer Will for comfort. But is she also set to seek solace in the bottom of a bottle?
Laurel has previously battled her alcohol demons and with Ashley’s help, has been on top of them for some time.
But in times of extreme stress, old habits die hard and we’ve already seen Laurel tempted by a glass of Prosecco.
As well as Ashley being in care, the anniversary of her son Daniel’s death arrives.
Without Ashley to lean on, Laurel is distraught and all alone.
She confides in Will about how she’s feeling – something that doesn’t go unnoticed by Gabby, who suggests her dad’s carer has feelings for Laurel.

Laurel initially dismisses the theory as ridiculous, but when Will later pops round with a bottle of wine, she starts to wonder if her stepdaughter could be right.
She decides to talk to him about the wine, and the flowers that were sent recently that she also believes were from him.

But is it all innocent? Does Will have feelings for her? Is he trying to tempt her with both himself and the alcohol?
Will Laurel fall off the wagon?
Things get even worse for her when she visits Ashley at his care home. She takes her husband for a picnic, but it becomes very clear, very quickly Ashley is rapidly forgetting who she is.
It’s heartbreaking for Laurel as she learns Ashley’s made some new friendships and the extent of those affect her more than she lets on.
As she returns home, it’s difficult to see how much more heartbreak she can handle without any help.
Will she give into her vices and hit the bottle again? Or will it be Will’s shoulder she cries on?
