Emmerdale SPOILER: Rhona leaves following relapse

Rhona has been using painkillers to deal with her living nightmare

Rhona Goskirk’s ordeal at the hands of evil Pierce Harris has already seen the vet turn back to the painkiller addiction that almost destroyed her life a few years ago.

It’s no surprise that she’s slipped back into her old ways after keeping Pierce’s brutal attack on their wedding night a secret.

Luckily for Rhona, she has some good friends around and it’s not long before her troubling behaviour alerts Vanessa Woodfield that something is very wrong.

Vanessa realises that Rhona has relapsed and pulls some tough love techniques on her friend to make her go to rehab for the sake of her little boy, Leo.

As Rhona prepares to leave the village again, will she finally come clean to those who love her about what really went down on the wedding night?

After months of manipulation and psychologically damaging behaviour, evil Pierce finally pushed Rhona too far when he attacked her on their wedding night.

He was jealous that she was wearing a necklace that her ex-husband, Paddy, had given her after the pair had also shared a kiss.

So he decided to show her exactly who was boss and forced himself on her despite her pleas for him to stop.

Rhona was very brave following the attack and went straight to the police station. But although they took all the medical evidence and started her official interview, Rhona ended up being unable to proceed and stopped short of naming Pierce.

When she returned to the village after her ordeal, she was confronted by Pierce who she ended up kicking out. She then headed off on honeymoon with just her son, Leo, without her new husband.

Long-time viewers will remember Rhona was addicted to them in the past and it nearly broke her marriage to Paddy Kirk when Vanessa started being her dealer.

This time though, Vanessa’s able to recognise the signs and immediately starts the tough-love approach. Let’s hope it works.
