Fans of Emmerdale were left dumbstruck by last night’s episode in which Faith Dingle revealed a shock secret in the most extraordinary of ways!
In the episode, Faith, played by Sally Dexter and daughter Chas (Lucy Pargeter) finally cleared the air about their troubled relationship and finally began to understand one another.

However Chas broke down when her mum refused to hug her.
Like Chastity, viewers felt they were left into dark as to why Faith was being so hands-off with her daughter.
But in a poignant scene which left viewers agog, all was explained.
Sitting in front of a mirror in the darkness of her bedroom Faith pulled off her top, slid off her bra and revealed that she had had a mastectomy.
Viewers were stunned by the surprise reveal which in vivid detail showed Faith’s scars and took to social media to praise the actresses involved in the scenes.
“Very powerful final scene in #emmerdale tonight with Faith’s #doublemastectomy,” one viewer commented, adding. “Much needed publicity. Stay proud. Stay beautiful.”
Another gripped TV fan said: “Oh may god I didn’t expect that 😳poor faith 😭😭 #Emmerdale.”

Speaking about the emotional scenes, actress Sally Dexter has said: “I am delighted we are covering this story. It shows the many people who are dealing with this situation that they are not alone, they need not be ashamed, and that more and more woman live and thrive with this condition.
“I think Faith always wanted to return to the village and missed being part of her family, but nearly losing her life made her do something about it. It certainly shows a serious side to her, but she will always be a lot of fun.
“Knowing she has had these down sides means she is owed the up times. She doesn’t do self pity and she believes life is for living, especially having nearly lost it.’

While some viewers actually thought actress Sally had had a mastectomy herself, the image on screen was actually created using a body double called Brigitte Coles.
Sally said that in spite of the heavy scene the pair of them find time to enjoy themselves on set: “When I met her, I had no idea what to expect but I wasn’t expecting to have the laugh that we did.
“She is a very funny woman – she is savvy and sassy and it was a real pleasure to meet her. She has had her struggle, and still does, but she’s fighting through them. She’s an inspiration.”
