Leah Bracknell, who is best known for playing Zoe Tate in Emmerdale, has revealed that “It is hard to keep on keeping on” as she continues her fight against terminal cancer.
The actress, who was diagnosed with lung cancer back in 2016, pens an emotional but honest blog about her battle with the illness for her fans and fellow cancer suffers to follow.
In the 53-year-old’s latest entry to her blog called ‘Something beginning with C’, Leah tells her readers: “It’s hard not to see the glass half-empty when you have been issued a sell-by date and options are running out.”

She also talks frankly about her struggles to remain positive while her future is so uncertain: “I have an unwelcome bedfellow who whispers unsweet nothings of nothing into my ear, fuelling the terrors and painting the world black, willing me to break, seducing me down the path of hopelessness and despair.
“I chose surrender – to surrender to the uncomfortable emotions, to honour my vulnerability, to let the cracks show and the tears flow. There is no shame in admitting that sometimes putting on a brave face just doesn’t cut it.”
Leah’s blog has proved to be very popular with fans, leading to her being overwhelmed with the messages of support and well-wishes from readers after her latest posting.
The well-loved actress has always been very honest about her battle with cancer, and is determined to raise awareness for the illness.

Last month she called out for the government to spend more money on funding the NHS after her own cancer went undiagnosed by four different doctors.
She said at the time: “I was dying, but the urgency of the situation was completely missed. The funding crisis and resultant staff shortages cannot meet demand.”
