Former Emmerdale star Gemma Oaten has confirmed she’ll be reprising her role in Holby City.
Gemma made a few guest appearances in the medical drama last year as nurse Sydney Somers and proved so popular with fans that she’s been invited back.

She’ll make a special one-off appearance which will air soon,
She made the announcement via her Instagram account writing: “Yes! It’s out! Can finally say… #holbycity Has nurse Sydney Somers back.
“And she’s been upgraded… She’s been poured (literally) into a dress! Loved my first day back on set. Loved!
“So grateful to be asked back. You can’t ever take this job for granted. It’s hard and it’s tough but my God, when you’re on that set or on that stage again, it feels like home. One of the luckiest and don’t take a moment for granted.”
Gemma’s followers flooded the 33 year old with messages of good luck and joy that she was returning.
“Looking forward to seeing you in Holby again xx,” commented one fan while another added: “Fab news Gemma! Can’t wait to see you back on the ward.”
A third wrote: “Fletch will be pleased!” referencing her last storyline where she arrived to attempt to get an inheritance Fletch was left by a patient he treated.
Gemma is best to know to soap fans for her role as troubled Rachel Breckle in Emmerdale.
She played the character between 2011 and 2015 and gave birth to a baby called Archie after a one night stand with Jai Sharma, who was married to Charity Dingle at the time.

Rachel also played a part in seeing that Charity was sent to prison for perverting the course of justice after trying to frame Sam Dingle for arson and blackmailing Rachel into a confession.
She left the village in 2015.
