EastEnders fans are furious as nightclub alarm forces them to mute their TVs

Some even switched off

EastEnders fans were not happy after a security alarm in last night’s episode almost sent them round the bend!

The annoying alarm, belonging to the recently remembered R&R nightclub, was screeching away in the background of every scene until it was switched off halfway through the episode.

Mel Owen (Tamzin Outhwaite) got a text message on her phone to tell her that there had a been a security breech at the club.

She then ranted down the phone: “Have you been to Walford? Because I will have a mob with pitchforks and flaming torches outside if you don’t shut that alarm up,” when she failed to get anyone to come and stop the racket.

But no one on the Square seemed to be that bothered about the noise.

The same couldn’t be said for the audience watching at home however.

They took to Twitter to rage about the noise – with some even switching off!

“This alarm in EastEnders is driving me mad  I’m going to change the channel… I don’t watch the TV to become a chore,” ranted one viewer.

“Well the bloody alarm sound going off is a sure fire way to make viewers leave this soap!!,” raged another.

Yet another fumed: “12 minutes of an alarm going off on #EastEnders good grief! This is award winning stuff!”

And a fourth added: “Well playing an alarm sound incessantly is a sure fire way to make people change channel.”

It was Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) who eventually managed to save the day, when he switched off the screechy noise, meaning viewers could unmute their television sets.

He told Mel that he used to run the R&R back in the day and had a similar security system at one of his properties.
