Coronation Street fans beg soap to give Bruno Langley a second chance

Would it ever be okay to consider reinstating him?

Coronation Street fans have begged the soap to give Todd Grimshaw actor Bruno Langley his job back.

Bruno was sacked from the hit ITV show last year, following an internal investigation when he was accused of indecently assaulting two women in a Manchester nightclub last October.

The 34-year-old actor later pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual assault, earning him a 12-month community order and a place on the sex offenders register.

Tonight’s Corrie showed Todd’s partner Billy Mayhew race off with Todd’s mum, Eileen, to meet him and Summer Spellman – the girl the couple were planning to adopt.

But when they arrived at the meeting spot, Summer informed them that Todd wouldn’t be coming as the police had caught up with them and Todd had assaulted an officer.

Todd and Summer fled the cobbles on Christmas Eve after he panicked the young girl was going to be taken away from them.

Billy’s dark secret, that he’d been involved in a crash that killed Susan Barlow, looked set to come out and tear their family apart.

Later Eileen told Phelan that Todd was an idiot because he had everything he’d ever wanted and had thrown it away.

Fans have begged Corrie bosses to reconsider their decision to end Langley’s contract, with many saying that everyone deserves a second chance.

“Myself and Loads of people want @BrunoLangley back @itvcorrie don’t we the public count?? Give him a break he has been punished enough, everyone deserves 2nd chance xxx” one fan has appealed. [sic]

Another was a bit more insistent, saying: “can @itvcorrie give @BrunoLangley another chance you had no right to sack him he did a stupid mistake i demand that you give his job back.”

And a third simply pleaded: “Bring back @BrunoLangley (todd grimshaw) @itvcorrie.”

Some fans have even launched a petition on Change.org requesting for Granada bosses to overturn their decision and that Bruno’s sacking was too harsh.

Bruno had starred in Coronation Street on and off since 2001 and had been a central character in several big storylines, including the soap’s first gay kiss when he made a move on Nick Tilsley (Adam Rickett.)

Fans have also been disappointed with the way Todd has been written out as his departure has left big gaps in some major plots, including Billy’s current story with the Barlow clan.

The actor has made several heartfelt apologies since his conviction, saying how ashamed he is of his behaviour.

When sentencing, the judge told Bruno it was likely he’d struggle to work in the entertainment industry again.
