Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made their first official appearance together today, as they visited a number of sights around Nottingham.
Needless to say, thousands clamoured to get a glimpse of the newly engaged couple – and some people wanted even more than that.
This Morning’s Alison Hammond was on the scene as a roving reporter, and she tried desperately to get a few words with the prince and his bride-to-be.
But the 42-year-old’s attempts massively divided viewers, with some labelling her “embarrassing” and others insisting she was “hilarious”.
This Morning presenters Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford had told viewers that the show would cut to Alison as soon as Harry and Meghan arrived to greet the throng.
And when the moment came, the former Big Brother star was chomping at the bit.
Incredibly, she tried to grab Meghan’s attention by yelling: “Megs! Megs!”
And it seemed to work – after Alison congratulated 36-year-old Meghan on behalf of This Morning, the US actress replied with a polite “thank you”, sparking wild celebrations from the reporter.

But Alison’s bullish approach didn’t work with Harry, 33, as she shouted: “Harry, come and get warmed up with me! You’re live on This Morning.”
The prince went over to her, but soon continued on his way.
The few minutes of mayhem provoked wildly contrasting reactions from This Morning’s viewers.
One slammed: “That was so awkward and cringe trying to see #AlisonHammond try to talk to #PrinceHarry #ThisMorning.”
Another scoffed: “Alison is making a complete idiot of herself with Harry and Meghan. I’m sitting here cringing at her shouting out like a lunatic #embarrassing.”

And a third fumed: “Alison Hammond was a total embarrassment. She should make a public apology to Harry and Meghan for her rudeness.”
But others took the reporter’s antics much less seriously. One gushed: “Alison Hammond trying to talk to Harry and Meghan is the best thing I’ve seen.”
A second enthused: “@AlisonHammond2 my favourite person on tv ever!!!! [Expletive] hilarious. @thismorning wouldn’t be the same without her!”
And a third chuckled: “Alison Hammond screaming ‘Over here, Megs!’ at the top of her lungs has made my absolute day!”
Harry and Meghan were due to visit Nottingham’s National Justice Museum, followed by a charity fair in aid of the Terrence Higgins Trust, and finally the Nottingham Academy, where they were set to meet representatives from the Full Effect anti-youth-violence initiative.
But we’re prepared to bet that none of that will be exhausting as their treatment at the hands of Alison Hammond!
