Max Branning’s meltdown has EastEnders fans completely distracted – by his spitting.
The businessman – who is played by actor Jake Wood in the BBC soap – totally lost it in tonight’s episode as his revenge plan was exposed and he was left with nothing, except apparently buckets of saliva that were liberally sprayed around Walford.
Confronted by his brother Jack and daughters Lauren and Abi, Max unleashed years of pent-up rage on his shocked family – after burning the only copy of his contract that would have given him hundreds of thousands of pounds.
But it wasn’t just the rage he unleashed as the spit sprayed from his mouth all over his family and their home.

“It ain’t about the money, Lauren, it’s about revenge,” he seethed, adding: “On everyone.
“Everyone who framed me, Lauren. Everyone who sat back and watched as I got dragged off to prison for 20 years.
“I should still be in there now, rotting away, innocent. What did anyone round here do to help me? No-one lifted a finger. That’s why they’re all on my list.”
“You know what’s worse though, is you, and you and you. Family, all betrayed me. Where were you?”
Pointing out that Jack remained in France and left him to rot in prison, and Abi had accused him of killing Lucy to everyone, he ranted and raged at his kids.
Max even went mad as he raged about being locked in a cellar as a child for answering back.

“That’s the story of my life it is, abandoned. That’s why I done it Lauren. That’s exactly why everyone’s got to pay, they’ve got to pay. This is about me because I’m the wronged one.”
However, viewers didn’t feel the same way as anyone spat on didn’t deserve it.
One wrote: “Say it don’t spray it Max #EastEnders”
Another added: “that glob of spit hanging on Max’s mouthpiece has been the most mad part so far#EastEnders #phlegm”
A third tweeted: “Max’s spit should have its own credits tbh”
