Coronation Street fans thought they were watching an historic soap crossover last night when ‘Aaron Dingle from Emmerdale’ joined David Platt in prison.
Viewers watched in a state of mild confusion as David (Jack P. Shepherd) was sent to prison, before being joined by his cellmate who had a passing resemblance to Emmerdale actor Danny Miller, who plays Aaron.
They flocked to social media to question whether Emmerdale’s Aaron had been sent back to prison in Weatherfield in a soap crossover.
One wrote: “Literally thought Aaron from Emmerdale came into the cell #corrie.”
A second said: “Is Aaron from Emmerdale sharing a cell with David? #Corrie.”

Another tweeted: “I properly though David was sharing a cell with Aaron off emmerdale, but with a prosthetic nose #Corrie #CoronationStreet.”
A fourth added: “Can’t be the only one who thought that was Aaron from emmerdale #Corrie.”
“Nice to see Danny Miller swapping soaps #Corrie,” said another.
However, sharper-eyed viewers realised the actor in question wasn’t Danny Miller, but in fact Peter Ash.
Peter is best known for his role as footballer Darius in Footballers’ Wives.
In Corrie David was locked up after missing his court date while reeling from Aidan Connor’s death and his own struggles after he was raped.

He managed to open up to ex Shona Ramsey about his ordeal finally, but he missed his appearance in court and was sent to prison awaiting trial for the assault on Gary Windass.
He told Shona: “I’m only telling you because I know that with everything that’s going on in my head I could have have ended up like Aidan.”
David admitted: “I came so close. But I’ve told you and if today’s taught me anything it’s that Thank God I will live.”
