Fans of Love Island have called for Caroline Flack to be fired from her hosting job after being arrested and charged with assault.
Police were called to a “domestic disturbance” at the presenter’s home in the early hours of Thursday morning after she allegedly had a fight with her tennis star boyfriend Lewis Burton.
A spokesperson for Met Police confirmed Caroline had been arrested and charged with assault by beating and she’ll appear in court on December 23.

An ambulance was later called with Lewis, 27, thought to be “treated for injuries”.
Following the news, fans of Love Island have taken to Twitter to call for host Caroline to be sacked.
Caroline Flack should be replaced this is disgusting.
One person said: “If it was a male who assaulted their female partner they would be fired from their public job immediately, Caroline Flack should be no different I’m sorry. Domestic abuse goes both ways!”
Another wrote: “Caroline Flack should be fired. Domestic abuse is never acceptable. #LoveIsland.”

A fourth added: “If any male TV presenter was arrested and charged with battering their partner they would be rightly sacked.

TV presenter Rick Edwards even tweeted to ITV2 saying he was “pretty free in January” to host the winter version of Love Island.
He said: “Well, ITV2. I’m pretty free in January, I’ll happily travel to South Africa, and I’ve never been charged with assault.”
He then joked: “Full disclosure though, I was once charged with public urination in New York. Hope that’s not a problem.”

It comes after a Met Police spokesperson said in a statement: “Caroline Flack, 40, of Islington was charged on Friday, 13 December with assault by beating. She will appear on bail at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 23 December.
“This follows an incident at approximately 05:25hrs on Thursday, 12 December after reports of a man being assaulted. He was not seriously injured.”
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson claimed they were called out to reports of a “person unwell” in the Islington area.
They said: “We were called yesterday (Thursday 12 December) at 5.28am to reports of a person unwell in Islington. We sent an ambulance to the scene and took a person to hospital.”

The spokesperson added: “Officers attended along with the London Ambulance Service. A man sustained injuries, which are not thought to be serious. A woman was arrested at the location on suspicion of actual bodily harm.”
The pair started dating earlier this year and made their relationship official in August.
