EastEnders fans were in bits last night as they watched heartbroken mum Carmel Kazemi grieving for her murdered son Shakil.

They watched in despair as Carmel became fixated on finding her son’s watch.

Had he been wearing it when he was stabbed, or had the thugs stolen it?

She became obsessed with finding it, even visiting the police station in a bid to discover if the watch was with her son’s body.

Returning home, after touching scenes with Shakil’s dad where they reminisced about his childhood, Carmel was thrown off-course when he mentioned Kush might still consider moving to Dubai.

Not thinking clearly, Carmel grabbed a bottle of pills and gulped down half of them with water – barely having time to think.

After dropping some tablets on the floor, she bent down to pick them up – only to find Shakil’s watch lying under his bed.

Discovering the watch, she realised she was making a big mistake and rushed to be sick in the toilet.

But not before Kush had come home to realise, with horror, what she had done.

The episode ended with Kush calling 999 and begging them to hurry.

Will she be okay?

Another said: “Carmel having a breakdown is so distressing to watch.”

Others called 53-year-old actress Bonnie “outstanding” and “remarkable”.

Forthcoming scenes will show Carmel join Keegan as they search for justice for Shakil.

The teenager was stabbed by thugs during the Royal Wedding celebrations. Keegan was stabbed in the neck but survived thanks to Mick Carter.
